Interview with Anupriya Gupta: Indian Mommy Blogger | Blog @ Mommy Tincture
1. Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself and your Blog?
I am an engineer, turned HR professional turned working mother and turned a stay at home mother of two.
In a span of 15 years , I have stayed in atleast 5 different cities and thus traversed the length and breadth of my country. Its been a privilege to be able to observe and understand distinct cultures. Apart from being passionate about my profession, I am an ardent reader and a lover of leisure cooking.
Being a mommy, I realize that being a parent changes everything around you. The way you perceive things, your lifestyle, choices and decisions. Even the way you look at an ice-cream tub that you loved earlier goes through a complete transition. And for mothers especially, life goes almost topsy-turvy. Many give up their careers to be able to do justice to their role as a mother, while most, make paradigm shifts to their lifestyle. Yet everyone struggles with one primary question.
What is the way to perfect parenting?
At 'Mommytincture' the blog, you will figure that there is no one correct way to being a perfect parent. Infact a ‘Perfect Parenting’ is a misnomer. There are just good and responsible parents. And there is no one route to being a ‘Good Parent’.
Mommytincture is an amalgamation of thoughts and ideas that help parents make sensitive and informed decisions regarding various aspects of kids upbringing.
As a Mommy Blog, Mommytincture is also a one-stop platform, where women (mothers or not) may find answers to some relevant issues that impact their life choices. In the gamut of thoughts overflown into words, there are some questions to ponder upon and cues to answers that will help make life worth its effort.
2. What did you do before Blogging? What inspired you to start blogging?
I worked in the corporate for almost 8 years. While in a full time job, I scratched my creative itch by writing fanfictions on a public forum. The feedback I received there was really encouraging. While I was expecting my second child, I realised that I might have to discontinue with my job. It was then that I put myself into blogging. The idea initially was to keep my mind busy and give a channel to my thoughts.
3. As a blogger, what are the challenges you face? How you overcome it?
Creating good and quality content continuously is the biggest challenge that most (if not all) bloggers face. Having said that, to come up with a content plan takes some thinking and planning on the personal front. For almost two years since I began writing, I struggled to keep up a regular pace of publishing quality content. But the blogging community has really come to my rescue while dealing with this challenge.
I try and participate in as many blogging challenges as possible. These challenges help me come out of the complacency that sets in as a stay at home mother.
4. What would you consider to be your biggest achievement in your journey so far as a Blogger?
The biggest achievement I would say has been mmy participation in the AtoZ Challenge 2017. It helped me come up with my very first set of fictional short stories, which later got published as an ebook with the title 'Parenting & A Slice of Everything' which is now also available on Amazon.
5. Have you worked/collaborate with brands? If yes, name few brands you worked with
Himalaya of Babies & Moms will always be special to me as my first brand collaboration. Apart from that I have worked with several other brands Revital for Women, Reliance Trends, Baby Dove, Johnsons & Johnsons, Nasivion, Caladryl are a few to name.
6. What is your primary income source?
Well as a Stay At Home Mom Blogger, I have not yet reached the stage where I may be able to boast of an income as such. But yes I do manage to earn through my blog website to keep it self-funded and keep myself motivated enough to go on.
7. Top 3 Blogging tools that you would recommend to your readers?
I have not yet explored enough of the various technical aspects of blogging yet, but a YOAST SEO definitely helps you optimise your posts for search engines. Other than that a Social Media sharing plug-in would be good for your blog as it will help your readers share your stuff easily.
I use SUMO, but there are many other options available for this.
Experts (and senior bloggers who take technology seriously) also advocate use of Tailwind as an effective tool to increase your blog's traction.
8. One piece of advice that you would like to share with all new bloggers?
Blogging recently has picked up a huge commercial momentum, which is a good thing as it brings numerous avenues for able people to generate income. I see there is a lot more urgency to gain better ranks, improved PAs & DAs. But in the entire scheme of things, let's not forget the essence of blogging i.e.
a channel to express ones voice. Follow certain basic rules of technology and keep generating good content. All the statistics, paid assignments etc. will follow.
9. Finally, what are your thoughts about Skill Infinity?
